Prof. Uche Uwaleke PhD, FCA, ACS, ACIB, ACTI, ACMR, MNES
Uche Uwaleke is presently the Commissioner of Finance, Imo State, Nigeria. Until his appointment Prof. Uche is the Chief Economist/Director of Research at the Securities and Exchange Commissions on secondment from Nasarawa State University. He is the first Professor of Capital Market in Nigeria.
Prior to joining Nasarawa State University as a pioneer staff in the faculty of Administration, he had worked as an Investment Banker with Lombard Assets Management Limited as the Head of Research and Private Banking.
A multi-disciplinary Scholar and a thorough-bred Professional, he holds a B.Sc degree in Accounting, an M.Sc in Economics (specializing in Finance) and a PhD in Finance. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, a Chartered Banker and a Chartered Stockbroker. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, the Institute of Capital Market Registrars and the Nigerian Economic Society.
His community services comprise engagements by the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Inland Revenue Service and the German Technical Cooperation.
Professor Uwaleke is on the Editorial Board of the Nigerian Journal of Securities Markets, a publication of SEC Nigeria and also a member of the Advisory Council of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. He sits on the Board of Peace Capital Market Limited as Non Executive Director.
He has authored/co-authored over 60 articles in referred local and international journals including 10 books among which are ‘’Contemporary Issues in Capital Market Studies’’ and ‘’An Insight into the Nigerian Capital Market’’. He regularly features on national Radio and Television talk shows on finance and the economy.
